This week marked the beginning of the Back to School shopping season. It usually begins around the 4th of July week and usually lasts sometime into August.
The picture above is from my appearance on TV to talk about how to save money with coupons on back to school.
In 2013, I went on television to talk about how to save on back to school. If you don't like to clip coupons, there is good news: most of the deals are available with store reward cards.
Here are my tips for saving money on school supplies:
First: Make sure you have reward cards for Office Depot/Office Max and Staples. These stores have great deals each week, but you'll need a store reward card.
Second: Back to school shopping season is a marathon, not a sprint. I don't recommend trying to do it all in one trip.
I suggest doing your shopping a little each week to take advantage of the sales being offered. As you can see from my transaction, I didn't spend that much.
Break up your shopping into weekly trips and get the items that are on sale. Buy enough of those to get you through the year. Bring a friend to help you buy enough of the items you REALLY want to stock up on.
Third: Usually, Office Depot and Staples will offer penny deals where you must reach a certain threshold to get those items for $0.1.
If you've been following this blog, you know that I love to roll rewards. Well, during a week where there is a rewards deal, buy the item with the reward to get you to your minimum threshold to get the .1 cent items! Then submit for the reward and you'll get some of that money back.
Paper deals are a great example of this. If there's a single ream paper deal with a reward, you can purchase the ream of paper to get to the minimum threshold, and get some of your money back in store rewards. (Who doesn't need a ream of paper?)
Fourth: If you're a business owner, back to school is a great time to stock up on office supplies. In the coming weeks, we'll see some excellent deals on paper, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters, staples, etc.
Stay tuned for more office supply store deals for back to school!
